After getting some bad news about my health I decided to write a forth book about my exploits in bird watching and photography. My first was somewhat of an ego trip, my second was a follow-up with fewer spelling mistakes and my third, Birds Around Surrey was a collection of photographs and data over a period of two years. This book is mainly of my favourite photographs with captions over the last 20 years. There are no stories as I've never professed to be an author, but hopefully this venture visualises my hobby. Another reason for producing this book is that I want to leave some of my favourite photographs for people to share. People who made up the audiences I've given illustrated talks to over the years, friends in the bird world and acquaintances I've met. It is also a big thankyou to everyone who sponsored my other books and to my wife Patricia, who has been very understanding while I've pursued my hobby. Every year my friend Cliff Reddick and I go away together on a bird watching trip as some of the captions in this book will explain. I would like to thank him once again for booking up the trips, his cooking and helping me with my camera work. I have repeated some photographs from my previous books as they have become very special to me and hopefully some of my new pictures will show that I've slightly improved with my camera over the years.
